Middle School Small Groups

7th and 8th grade are formative years...

...in a student’s life, and at this age they are looking to encounter God in a fun, relational, crazy way. Elevate exists to give students a safe place to explore their relationship with God by connecting students to each other and to leaders for these important years. What happens in our small groups is everything at this age, so we create intentional experiences and time for students to learn what that kind of community feels like.

At 10:00 AM on Sundays, through games, worship, teaching and small group time, middle schoolers will taste community and start to learn what it looks and feels like. Our volunteers love this age and are trained to walk with students through these two years by showing up in their lives and creating a place for them to belong.  Meet our awesome leaders here!

DOUBLE DOG DAREATHON - April 29/30

DDD is an outreach event designed for 7th and 8th graders and their friends to have a crazy fun time and do some crazy wild dares, and then come to church together to hear the Gospel message! Students should plan to invite one friend to spend the night at their house on Saturday, April 29. After a crazy night of staying up late and doing dares, our middle schoolers will all be coming in Sunday morning excited and amped up to have a great time in Elevate! We will kick off the morning by calling the winning groups of each Dare up to the stage where the friends will get to "punch" through a prize board and win some really cool prizes. The large group time is going to be a little longer than usual as we cheer on our winners and then share the gospel presentation with students, followed by a time where students can introduce their friends to their small group leaders. Think of this morning as the first of what will hopefully be many conversations with your student's friends!  There is no registration for DDD.

What you will need: sticky notes and a can of shaving cream

This Week's Sermon

Some friendships are forever, but many last only for a season. In middle school, you experience so many ups and downs— including friendships that come and go. Maybe you’re no longer at the same school. Maybe you’re on different sports teams now. As you grow up, it’s normal to gravitate toward new people with similar interests as you. It’s okay to say goodbye to friends—it happens. Here’s what the apostle Paul knew, and what we should know too: Even when friendships fade, you can choose to do what’s right. You don’t always get to choose how long friendships last, but you do get to choose how to respond when they end.

Serve

God loves us so much...

That he did something about it—he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross. As disciples of God, we’re instructed to have that same attitude of love. In fact, the Bible says that if we love one another, all people will know we’re God followers. We also believe that middle school students have gifts and passions placed in them by God, so we encourage them to serve.

Middle school students can help lead small groups during weekend services in the Children’s Ministry in the following areas: The Gardens (0-2 yrs), The Cove (3-4 yrs), and JrQuest (K-2nd grade). Middle schoolers can also be techs in both KidQuest (3rd-4th grade), and Breakaway (5th-6th grade).
